Frequently asked questions
How does the I'm Feeling Lucky property finder work?
Enter your birthday and we work out your Chinese zodiac animal and birth element using the traditional five-element (Wu Xing) system, with the year starting at Li Chun (around 4 February). We then match ranked properties whose setting reflects your element and the element that supports it, and combine that with our independent score.
What is my element by birth year?
Your birth-year element follows the last digit of your Chinese birth year: 0–1 Metal, 2–3 Water, 4–5 Wood, 6–7 Fire, 8–9 Earth. Birthdays before about 4 February count toward the previous year.
Which element supports mine?
In the productive cycle Water nourishes Wood, Wood feeds Fire, Fire creates Earth, Earth bears Metal and Metal enriches Water. We favour homes that reflect your own element and the one that feeds it, and avoid settings dominated by the element that controls yours.
What is a Kua number?
Your Kua (Gua) number from the Eight Mansions school gives four favourable facing directions, based on your birth year and gender. When you view units, check which way the main door faces.
Should I choose a property based on feng shui?
Treat it as a fun extra, not a deciding factor. Location, price, build quality, management and your own needs matter far more. Every suggestion here is still a ranked property with a published score and sources.
For entertainment, based on traditional Chinese five-element and Eight Mansions concepts. Not financial or investment advice — choose a home on location, price, build quality and your own needs.
